Method
- Bake the cake according to directions on the package.
- Let it cool completely. You may freeze for about 45 minutes to speed this up or cool overnight.
- Put the entire cake in a bowl and crumble it up using your hands.
- Stir in frosting into the crumbled cake, ½ cup at a time, until it holds together when rolled into a ball.
- Roll the mixture into balls and place them on a large baking sheet. Refrigerate for 30 minutes to set.
- Melt white chocolate candy coating according to package directions, then dip each ball into the melted coating.
- Place the coated cake bites back onto the pan or wax paper to set.
- Let the bites set up in the fridge. Decorate with sprinkles before the coating hardens or drizzle with melted red candy melts once set.
- To drizzle, melt candy melts, spoon into a sandwich bag, clip a corner, and drizzle over each bite.
Notes
For more authentic cake bites, shape them into discs. Make sure the candy coating is set before drizzling with red candy melts.
