Ingredients
  

Popcorn
  • 8 cups popped popcorn or use two standard-size bags of microwave popcorn
  • 1/2 cup unpopped kernels optional
Red Velvet Cake Crumbs
  • 3 cups red velvet cake crumbs about 1/3 of a 9 x 13 cake
White Chocolate Coating
  • 22 oz white chocolate chips
  • 1 tbsp vegetable shortening such as Crisco

  • Double boiler

Method
 

  1. Pop your popcorn using an air popper or the stove. Alternatively, use microwave popcorn.
  2. Melt white chocolate chips with Crisco in a double boiler.
  3. Transfer popcorn to a large bowl, removing unpopped kernels. Pour melted chocolate over popcorn and stir to coat.
  4. Pour popcorn onto a waxed paper-lined surface and sprinkle with red velvet crumbs. Turn and sprinkle again for desired coverage.
  5. Let the chocolate set before serving or packaging.

Notes

For a richer flavor, try using flavored popcorn like butter or caramel. This is a great snack for parties and gatherings.
