Valentine Chocolate Sugar Cookies

These delightful chocolate sugar cookies are perfect for Valentine's Day, featuring milk chocolate M&M's for a sweet touch.

Ingredients
  

Cookie Dough
  • 250 g granulated sugar
  • 226 g butter room temperature
  • 1 egg
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 256 g all-purpose flour
  • 64 g dutch process cocoa powder
  • 1/2 bag milk chocolate Valentine M&M's

  • Parchment Paper
  • Rolling Pin
  • Cookie Cutters
  • Baking Sheet

Method
 

  1. In mixer, combine butter & sugar. Beat on medium speed until light & fluffy.
  2. Turn the mixer to low & add egg & vanilla. Beat until just combined.
  3. Slowly beat in flour & cocoa.
  4. Transfer dough to large piece of parchment paper. Place another piece on top & roll out to about 1/4 inch thick piece of cookie dough between the 2 sheets of parchment.
  5. Place on cutting board & refrigerate at least 30 minutes.
  6. Once dough is finished chilling, preheat oven to 350 degrees.
  7. Remove top layer of parchment & use your cutters to cut your hearts. Use a thin spatula to transfer cut out cookies to ungreased cookie sheet.
  8. Place your M&M's on your cookies & bake 10-13 minutes.
  9. Allow to cool on baking sheet completely before transferring to airtight container. Repeat rolling, cutting & baking until you have used all the dough.

Notes

For best results, ensure your butter is at room temperature before starting. You can substitute different M&M's colors for other occasions.
